The Shopfront Read was quieter than I expected — there was no pressure to change everything at once. The written list had eight things on it and I have done five so far. The difference in how customers move through the shop is noticeable, particularly near the entrance. I would do it again.

We have a hardware shop that my father started. I wanted someone to look at it who would not just tell me to go digital. Claudia from Esmeralda spent a morning with us and the summary she sent afterwards was direct and specific. Not everything applied, but most of it did. Good value for money.

We did three months of the Retail Companion and I genuinely looked forward to the monthly sessions. The shared checklist meant I did not have to remember everything we discussed. By month three, our average basket size had gone up without us doing anything dramatic.

I was not sure the Commerce Study was for a shop my size, but Esmeralda made it manageable. The team session was the most useful part — my two staff members had observations I had simply stopped noticing. The roadmap we received gave us a clear order for the next six months.

My children's boutique has been open four years and I felt like I had stopped seeing it clearly. After the Shopfront Read, I repositioned three display areas. It sounds small but it changed the energy in the room. Customers now stop at things they used to walk past.

Working with Esmeralda felt different to what I had expected from a consultant. There was no presentation at the start, just listening. By the time Lucía sent through the checklist from our second session, it already felt like she understood the shop's particular character.

Challenge
Foot traffic was steady but sales were not. Customers browsed but left without buying, particularly in the accessories section at the back of the shop.
What We Did
A Shopfront Read identified that the shop's most profitable products were placed where natural light did not reach them. Signage near the entrance was directing customers toward lower-margin items.
Outcome
Five changes made over two weeks. Conversion rate in the accessories section improved noticeably within the first month. The owner noted that customers were spending more time in the area than before.

Retail Companion · Three months, 2025
Challenge
Pricing was inconsistent — some items were underpriced relative to cost, others overpriced compared to what nearby shops charged. The owner had never done a formal pricing review.
What We Did
Over three monthly sessions, we reviewed the pricing of the thirty most-sold items, worked through margin targets, and built a shared checklist to track adjustments week by week.
Outcome
Average basket size increased by approximately 12% over the three months. The owner now has a pricing framework she applies to new stock before ordering, rather than deciding after it arrives.

Commerce Study · May 2025
Challenge
The shop wanted to add an online sales channel but did not know which products to lead with or how to price them differently for delivery customers.
What We Did
A Commerce Study over four weeks reviewed the top 20 product categories by margin. The team session revealed that two categories the owner had deprioritised were in high demand among their regular customers.
Outcome
The roadmap identified five product lines for the online channel launch and a pricing approach for delivery orders. The shop launched a simple catalogue online two months after the study ended.
